FAQs on Giving
If you have any questions that are not answered below please to not hesitate to contact us at info@FreedomOne.cc.
Are gifts tax deductible?
NO. Gifts to FreedomOne or any Freedom Initiative or Enterprise are not tax deductible as FreedomOne is setup as Legal Liability Corporation (LLC) and not a 501c3 non-profit.
Why isn't FreedomOne operating as a non-profit?
Even though FreedomOne serves as a platform from which to launch various ministry initiatives, it was decided not to establish FreedomOne as a 501c3 for the following reasons:
1. Jesus' Example -
Jesus consistently encouraged us to pay our taxes and in fact Jesus paid taxes as well. Although Jesus is clear that the sons of God (Jews and now Christians) are exempt, Jesus tells us it is better for Christians to pay tax so that others are not offended. In Matthew 17:26-27 (NIV) Jesus is speaking to Peter: …"Then the children are exempt" Jesus said to him. "But so that we may not cause offense, go to the lake and throw out your line. Take the first fish you catch; open its mouth and you will find a fourâ€"drachma coin. Take it and give it to them for my tax and yours."
Freedom One feels these verses from Matthew are a beautiful example of the grace of Jesus fulfilling/replacing Old Testament law. Therefore, by operating as a for-profit vs. a non-profit, Freedom One is choosing to pay tax.
2. Power of Declarations
Declarations are very important when creating something new. The creation story records the phrase "Then God said", nine separate times in the book of Genesis. However, when forming a non-profit the first statement made in the Articles of Incorporation within a State Government is "this entity will and shall forever be a "non-profit" entity." While FreedomOne is not opposed to non-profit legal formation, FreedomOne has chosen to declare itself a for-profit with a focus on giving.
